STRESS RIBBON STRUCTURE - WORLD RECORD
A bridge claimed to be the world's longest stress ribbon bridge was officially opened in May 2009. The bicyle/pedestrian bridge has three spans and is a total of 305m long. Only six stress ribbon bridges have been built in North America. This Lake Hodges bridge uses a 406mm thick concrete deck to span 100m between supports, giving a span depth ratio of 1:248. For further details see Bridge Update Issue 84 June 2009.
